When you’re managing a building site in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world, you need to make sure your project sits in harmony with the millions of workers and residents that surround you.
Construction of the new NHS UCLH (University College London Hospitals) world leading centre for ear, nose, throat and oral diseases is scheduled for completion in 2019, which means potentially up to 4 years disruption for road users and pedestrians. Drivers from building material suppliers would have to negotiate the narrow streets that surround the planned hospital when making deliveries, causing long hold ups to traffic as their HGVs reversed into the extra-long openings in the site hoardings.
A hoarding contractor, working in the city, approached Alexandra to produce a 20 metre long SiteGardTM sliding gate that would work with a similar opening further along the street, allowing deliveries to drive in and out with no need to turn round or reverse. With such a large gate the finished construction needed to be professionally finished and aesthetically pleasing so that it portrayed the right image for the UCLH and to the people that would see the building rise year on year. While this is a temporary feature, it will be operating 24 hours a day, right up until the new hospital is ready to open, so the construction team needed a gate solution they could rely on.
Alexandra Security were pleased to deliver their cost effective solution, one of the largest site gates we’ve made, on time so that it could play an important part in this prestigious and important construction project.
